Analyzing and Drawing Conclusions

To showcase my ability to analyze and draw conclusions, I have included various poster and oral presentations I have prepared that show my analysis and conclusion of various different projects.

Oral Presentation – Research Assistant Project

I presented this at the Canadian Mineral Analysts (CMA) Conference in September of 2024. This was my first research project that I did with Dr. Kingsley Donkor Detection of Cannabidiol and Cannabigerol by LCMS for Kinetic Studies. This 15-minute presentation was a great experience for me to disseminate my work in front of experts of their respective fields.

UofA Research Day – NSERC USRA

I presented my poster, Analysis of 20 Elements and Speciation of Arsenic in Vegetables Using Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry, at the 57th Annual Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry Research Day on October 18, 2024. This research was part of my NSERC USRA employment during the summer of 2024 at UofA with Dr. Le’s lab. I investigated arsenic contamination in locally grown vegetables and mushrooms. Using HPLC-ICPMS, I analyzed arsenic species to assess their toxicity and potential health risks. The findings highlight the importance of speciation analysis in food safety and environmental sustainability by helping to identify safer agricultural practices and reduce human exposure to toxic arsenic species.

Poster – Research Assistant Project

Presented a Research Assistant project on analytical chemistry at the Science Undergrad Poster Exhibition of Research (SUPER) conference and the TRU Undergraduate Research & Innovation Conference. Through this experience, I gained a deeper appreciation for the role of analytical chemistry in addressing environmental challenges. Communicating my research to a broader audience reinforced the importance being able to draw conclusions at a deep enough level to communicate the project to someone who may not share the same background as myself.
